Jagannath Rath Yatra is one of the biggest religious festivals in India. It is also known as the Festival of Chariots. During this festival, three Hindu gods - Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra - are taken out of their temples in Puri, Odisha and are placed on three huge chariots. The chariots are then pulled by devotees through the streets of Puri to Gundicha Temple, which is about 3 km away 1

The festival is celebrated annually in the month of Ashadha (June or July) on the second day of the bright fortnight 2. This year, the festival commenced on June 20 in Puri, Odisha and will culminate on June 28 3.
The Jagannath Rath Yatra is unique because it allows the public to have darśana (Holy view) of the triads outside their temples 1. The festival has a significant religious significance and is considered one of the four most important Hindu pilgrimages 2.
